Tattoo Inspired – Wedding Vendor Feature

I have died and gone to heaven!!! I’ve been swooning over custom tattoo art shoes for years, and I’ve only ever come across businesses overseas. Hence, I was soooo excited to hear that an Australian artist was creating these amazing bespoke shoes! Tina, the talented artist behind Tattoo Inspired, works with clients to design a custom piece of tattoo-inspired art for their shoes and then lovingly paints it onto their shoes. What makes this business so awesome is it’s not just for brides – these shoes would make incredible keepsake thank you gifts for your bridesmaids (and they can rock them walking down the aisle), mothers of the bride or groom or even celebrants (yes, celebrants, how awesome would your outfit be with some amazing shoes!!!).

I’m not going to gab on anymore because Tina’s amazing work speaks for itself, and the hardest thing is deciding what elements to have on your shoes!!!

I think I’ve got my Melbourne Cup shoes sorted this year – what about you ladies?!

Share with us how you came to launch Tattoo Inspired?

I have always had a passion for tattoos and art, so when I was introduced to shoe art by a friend, I was instantly in love with the idea.

There are other shoe artists in the UK, but I have not heard of it being done in Australia. So here we are.

What inspires you when it comes to designing your incredible shoe designs?

The first thing that inspires me is the client and their story; I get to know the client so that I can understand who they are and what they like; they inspire me with their ideas, memories, photos and images.

The second is tattoo designs; there are many beautiful designs to draw inspiration from…. Hence the name Tattoo Inspired.

What would be your favorite shoe design have you created so far, and why?

That would have to be the red shoes with the lace-up back. These were designed for my best friend’s wedding; she trusted me to design them without her input. I used her wedding dress as inspiration.. the lace-up back and the beading on her dress. Also, the roses for her bouquet are red and white, and the wording on the shoes is from her invitations.

Your work is utterly fabulous, and I know that many of our readers will be falling in love at first sight right now – what is the process should a bride fall in love with your work?

Brides can contact me via email, Facebook, text or phone with their specifications, including wedding date, how much of the shoe is to be covered/budget, colors/ theme, any images and photos you may want to incorporate into your design. Any names, dates, or quotes that are meaningful to you.

Once I have all the information I need, you can post your shoes to me or drop them off locally.

I will also require a $20 deposit so that I can begin with the sketches.

You then review the designs via email and send me your feedback and any changes I apply to the final sketches. Once you approve the finalized drawings, the artwork is painted and sealed onto your shoes.

You are required to pay the outstanding amount before your Tattoo Inspired shoes are posted back to you.

Can you provide us a bit of an indication of the price range for your amazing designs?

Prices are charged per amount of design and coverage and include sketches of your shoe art.

Many hours of work go into each piece of hand-painted artwork, and my prices reflect both that and the high standard of service.

  • Full shoe or fine detail $200
  • Kids shoes or half shoe $150
  • Small design or baby shoes $100

Pricing includes return postage costs.

Do you have a “bricks and mortar” store or location for those who would like to meet with you first and view some samples of your work?

I have a small studio at my home but am also happy to meet the clients at their home if they live Northside of Brisbane.

What advice do you have for brides when choosing the perfect shoes for their wedding outfits?

Make sure you are comfortable; you don’t want to be in pain and uncomfortable on your wedding day. If you MUST have those killer pumps, then take a pair of flats with you just in case.

Do you offer designs for bridesmaids or even the mother of the bride/mother of the groom, for that matter?

We are happy to design shoe art for everyone, males, females and children.

I specialize in bridal designs and offer artwork for 16th and 21st birthday heels, memorials or the birth of a child (baby shoes).

How far out from a wedding should brides be booking in to have their bespoke shoe designs created by you?

The process can take up to 2 weeks depending on the design and how many changes are made to the sketches; also, you need to allow for postage time.

Do you have a range of shoes that brides can choose from, or do they need to supply their shoes? What advice do you have for choosing the best shoe to work with your custom artwork?

Clients need to supply their shoes to ensure proper fit. I work with leather-type shoes, including PU synthetic leather. Also sneakers and canvice.

I can work around lace and satin embellishments but do not suggest painting on delicate fabrics.

When you’re not creating show-stopping pieces, what do you love to spend your time doing?

I am a mother and a wife, so I spend my spare time having fun with my family, camping, taking the dogs to the beach, etc.

Tattoo Inspired is partnered with the National Breast Cancer Foundation and offers a “pink ribbon collection” for survivors of cancer and anyone touched by cancer. These designs can include the date you became cancer-free, positive quotes, flowers etc.
